Take a ferry from Perth or Fremantle to Wadjemup / Rottnest Island for the day.
The island is known for its beaches, clear water, and quokkas. Bikes are the most popular way to get around, though there are also shuttle buses available. The Wadjemup Museum is worth visiting to learn more about the island’s turbulent Aboriginal and colonial history.
Around two hours north of Perth, the Pinnacles are limestone formations located within Nambung National Park.
Many people combine the trip with stops at nearby beaches, the Lancelin sand dunes, or Yanchep National Park on the drive north.
The Southwest of Western Australia is known for its stunning beaches, wineries, forests, and coastal towns. Popular destinations include Margaret River, Dunsborough, Yallingup, and Busselton.
We recommend Hamelin Bay where you can see lovely manta rays in their natural habitats. If you have time to travel a bit farther, Bridgetown, Albany, Denmark and Esperance are well worth a visit.
Swan Valley
The Swan Valley is about 30 minutes from Perth and is an easy day trip from the city. The area is known for wineries, breweries, distilleries, and local produce, with many places offering tastings and long lunches.
Perth Hills
The Perth Hills are a good option for hiking, wineries, and short day trips outside the city. There are walking trails, towns, and lookout points throughout the area. Seven Sins restaurant is a recommended stop.
